Overview
Travel medicine has become increasingly important in the context of global health, given the unprecedented level of international mobility and the increase in travel related to tourism, work, family visits, and humanitarian contexts. Contemporary trends show that travelers face increasingly varied and complex health risks, which requires healthcare professionals to have up-to-date, multidimensional, and technologically informed skills. The transition of health systems to digital environments—including electronic records, international interoperability, real-time consultation of updated sources, and increasing integration of clinical applications—has profoundly changed the way traveler consultations are conducted.

Objectives

• Use of electronic vaccination records and interoperable platforms;
• Use of international travel medicine applications (such as CDC TravWell, FitForTravel, ECDC, WHO);
• Digital vaccination planning and alert management;
• Intercultural communication.
 

These skills, which are eminently practical in nature, are not the central focus of traditional courses, which are predominantly centered on medical and epidemiological content. The new Course
4.0 aims to fill this gap by offering a training environment geared towards experimentation, simulation, and digital practice.

 

Operating Mode

 

The course will be held in person on May 7th, with a duration of 8 hours (from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM), awarding a total of 1 ECTS credit.

Tuition and Fees 2025/2026

National Students: 50 Euros

International Students*:  50 Euros

Application Fee: 10 Euros

Registration Fee and School Insurance: 10 Euros

Note: The tuition of this course can be paid in 10 installments, being the first at the time of registration and the remaining in the months of October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May and June.

* in accordance with Decree-Law No. 36/2014, changed by Decree-Law No.62/2018, of 6th August, international students are nationals of a country which is not a Member State of the European Union and are not a legally resident in Portugal for more than 2 uninterrupted years by 1st of January of the enrolment year
